Author(s): CMHIS Program Evaluation Workgroup

Contributed by: Program Evaluation Workgroup

Identifying the questions you hope to answer will help you design an effective evaluation plan. Program evaluation questions should help you determine the effectiveness of your service implementation and its impact on client outcomes. This 4-step resource will show you how to use the goals of your program evaluation to select priority areas, identify outcomes linked to each priority, and develop evaluation questions to assess them.

Before writing your program evaluation questions, it may be helpful to review the program’s purpose, activities, and key outcomes by using the Getting Started With Your Program Evaluation and Creating A Logic Model for Program Evaluation (coming soon) resources. Also, if previous program evaluations have been completed, it can be helpful to review the prior evaluation questions and outcomes.
