Akansha Vaswani-Bye is a licensed psychologist and faculty member in the SPIRIT (Supporting Psychosis Innovation through Research, Implementation, & Training) Center in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington. Akansha’s interests include the development and dissemination of family-centered and participatory models of care, culturally consonant, structurally responsive, and evidence-informed practices, and non-pathologizing interventions. She is an expert in the application of postmodern approaches to therapy, specifically narrative therapy. Her research is currently focused on implementing evidence-based interventions focused on reaching traditionally underserved populations. Current projects (Family Bridger and Psychosis REACH) include efforts at developing the family peer workforce to support individuals living with serious mental illness and improving access to mental health care among people living with HIV and at-risk for HIV in integrated and community-based care settings.
