Dr. Kang-Yi’s work focuses on improving mental health care for populations with psychiatric needs. She has over 15 years of experience partnering with publicly funded agencies to identify priorities, critical problems, and questions, examine outcomes of interest, and develop ways to scale effective programs. She has conducted a variety of large-scale effectiveness evaluations of mental health programs. Dr. Kang-Yi has been selected as a Rutgers Learning Health System Scholar and leads the Implementation and Outcome Evaluation Working Group of the Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions at Rutgers University. Dr. Kang-Yi received her Ph.D. in social work from Columbia University and her master’s degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania. She was a joint postdoctoral fellow of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine and the City of Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health.
