Dr. Ibis S. Carrión-González, a Clinical Psychologist, serves as Director of the Institute of Research, Education, and Services in Addiction (IRESA) at the Universidad Central del Caribe, School of Medicine in Puerto Rico. She leads multiple behavioral health initiatives focused on Hispanic and Latine communities, funded by SAMHSA and the Office of Population Affairs. Her work includes directing the Hispanic and Latino Behavioral Health Center of Excellence, adolescent sexual health equity programs, mental health awareness training, and HIV prevention initiatives. Dr. Carrión also co-directs the Northeast and Caribbean Addiction Technology Transfer Center and delivers specialized training on substance use disorders across Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. With extensive experience in outpatient and inpatient behavioral health services, she has contributed to clinical research, evidence-based practice training, and workforce development. Her leadership has fostered lasting partnerships and the creation of culturally informed educational resources for providers nationwide.
