Katie Coleman works with foundations, academic institutions, and health care organizations to design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based, patient-centered practice improvements, with a focus on primary care, behavioral health, social health, and the safety net. Ms. Coleman is currently building learning and evaluation capabilities for the Population Health Learning Center, a new organization supported by California’s Department of Health Care Services to improve population health for more than 5 million Medicaid-insured Californians. Before starting Research to Practice LLC, Ms. Coleman spent 18 years at Group Health Cooperative/ Kaiser Permanente (KP) as a researcher and faculty department Director. While there, she led the Center for Accelerating Care Transformation (previously MacColl Center) and directed KP’s national Social Needs Network for Evaluation and Translation (SONNET). She began her career in a large Federally Qualified Health System in Chicago. Ms. Coleman loves to learn and share through peer-reviewed publications, conferences, and speaking and teaching engagements at the University of Washington and elsewhere.
