Lara S. Savas, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Health Promotion and Behavioral Science at the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHealth) Houston School of Public Health. She is a behavioral epidemiologist specializing in the development and evaluation of multilevel, multicomponent interventions and implementation strategies. Her work includes applying community-engagement approaches, comprehensive needs assessments, and systematic intervention and implementation planning frameworks (Intervention/Implementation Mapping) to ensure that evidence, theory, and stakeholder perspectives inform the development and evaluation of interventions and implementation strategies. Her research also focuses on the evaluation of behavioral, social, environmental, and structural determinants of health to address health disparities. She serves as PI and co-PI on multiple community- and clinic-based cancer screening and HPV vaccination programs and MPI of an implementation study supporting scale-up of an evidence-based program in clinic systems. She co-leads implementation, process, and outcome evaluation of two statewide mental health programs in Texas.
